Dear
church family,
Greetings
in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our church fellowship is embarking on a journey.
Would you please come along?!
We
are studying and exploring seven elements that are key to any church
that is Biblically-based and consistently growing.
These seven factors are all drawn from the Scriptures and we will
be searching them out together over the next seven weeks.
The
preaching series will be accompanied by a Sunday night discussion time
related to that morning’s sermon.
Already we have had some action plans come out of our first week
study! I want to encourage
all of you to attend and be a active part of these meetings and
discussions.
Our
ultimate goal for you is that you will become more like Jesus.
Our goal for the church is that we will act more and more like
the body of Christ. God
wants us to reflect the kingdom of heaven on earth, as Jesus taught us
to pray, “Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Come
along and grow with us.
Your
brother in Christ,
Dr.
Stephen D. Hokuf

Give a simple gift—with an eternal message
It’s
shoe box time again! Here is
another opportunity to make an eternal impact on the lives of precious
children around the world.
Last year Operation Christmas Child (OCC) delivered boxes to over 130
countries. Continue to pray
that God will open doors so more children will experience the love of
Jesus.
This will be the 17th year that our church has participated in OCC and the 15th year that we will be the Relay Center for our area.
Each year we are so blessed by the participation of not only our
church, but by other churches, groups, and individuals in our area.
Last year our total was 2,245 shoe boxes.
Our church did 149.
Dedication Day for our church will be Sunday, November 13th. National
Collection Week is November 14-21.
The hours are as follows:
Mon., Nov. 14-Sat., Nov. 19
10:00 am – 4 pm
Sun., Nov. 20
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Mon., Nov. 21
8:00 am – 10:30 am
Stop by any time to help pack the shoe boxes in cartons to be shipped to Charlotte, North Carolina. We especially need help on the final Sunday. That is when the majority of the shoe boxes come in.
We have plenty of “How to PACK A SHOE BOX”
brochures available. These
will give you instructions on how to pack your shoe box(es) as well as
provide labels to tape to the top of your box(es).
It also includes an envelope for your donation of $7.00 per box.
The donation goes in your box on top of the gifts.
More and more people are giving online at
samaritanspurse.org/occ. You
can print out your own labels and find out the destination of your shoe
box by following it online.
Place a rubber band around each shoe box and bring it to church on
November 13 for our dedication service, or drop it off at the Relay
Center during the week. We
encourage you to enclose a note to each child.
If you include your name and address there is a possibility that
the child may reply. We also
have a special form letter that the children may enjoy filling out and
enclosing in their shoe box.
We really do encourage the children to get involved in this
heart-warming ministry.
If you feel that you cannot give the $7.00 donation, please do not let that keep you from doing a shoe box. The church will be making a donation (from designated OCC funds) to Samaritan’s Purse towards the shipping costs.
We have special decorated shoe boxes available; or, you can use one of your own shoe boxes, (preferably wrapped—the lid wrapped separately from the bottom) or you may use plastic shoe boxes.
We also have a special box in the educational wing
where you may donate items to be used as filler.
One of
the exciting things that is happening with Operation Christmas Child is
the lesson follow-up discipleship program—The Greatest Journey.
This program has impacted the lives of many children across
Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and around the world.
Pray that God will touch the heart of every child who
receives a shoe box gift, and that He will bring many children and
families to faith in Christ.

Relay Center Coordinator
